The White Home on Tuesday sent a letter to Home Speaker Nancy Pelosi knocking the impeachment inquiry started in your home of Representatives as “illegitimate.”
” President Trump and his administration decline your baseless, unconstitutional efforts to overturn the democratic procedure,” the letter read.
The eight-page letter was launched by the White House to reporters on Tuesday night.
White House counsel Pat Cipollone authored the letter, which directly challenged the Democrats in Congress.
The letter read:
Your unmatched actions have left the president with no option. In order to fulfill his duties to the American individuals, the Constitution, the Executive Branch, and all future occupants of the Office of the Presidency, President Trump and his administration can not participate in your partisan and unconstitutional query under these situations.
The White Home declined to comply with Democrat demands for witnesses and files, pointing out the “legal and constitutional defects” in the procedure.
Speaking with reporters after the letter was launched, the White Home sternly lectured your house Democrats for breaking precedent by hosting an impeachment procedure without holding an official vote.
” For the very first time in our country’s history, the Home of Representatives is now claiming to proceed an impeachment questions versus the president, without carrying out a vote on the house flooring,” a senior White House authorities stated in a call with reporters after the letter was launched.
The authorities did not detail whether the president wanted to cooperate with your home of Representatives’ query if the vote passed.
” We don’t want to hypothesize on what would happen in various hypothetical scenarios,” the official said.
The letter was also resolved to Home Intelligence Committee Chairman Adam B. Schiff, Home Foreign Affairs Committee Chairman Eliot L. Engel, and Home Committee on Oversight and Reform Chairman Elijah Cummings.
White Home legal representatives criticized Democrats’ actions in rejecting the president the right to cross-examine witnesses, call witnesses, and receive testimony transcripts.
” All of this violates the Constitution, the guideline of law, and every previous precedent,” the letter read. “Never before in our history has your house of Representatives-under the control of either political party-taken the American individuals down the harmful course you appear determined to pursue.”
The letter argued that Democrats were utilizing impeachment hearings to reverse the 2016 election and to affect the 2020 election.
” The Creators, however, did not produce the extraordinary mechanism of impeachment so it might be used by a political party that feared for its potential customers versus the sitting President in the next election,” it read.
