Allies of President Donald Trump are out completely force Friday night, rubbing in the discovery from Special Counsel Robert Mueller that BuzzFeed’s once-thought-to-be-explosive story declaring ex-Trump legal representative Michael Cohen offered Mueller with proof that the president advised him to lie to Congress is incorrect.

President Trump himself came out swinging, again calling fake news “the enemy of the people.”

Fake News is really the OPPONENT OF INDIVIDUAL!

— Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) January 19, 2019

And he slammed BuzzFeed for releasing the phony dossier about him during the transition after he won the election:

Remember it was Buzzfeed that released the totally discredited “Dossier,” paid for by Crooked Hillary Clinton and the Democrats (as opposition research), on which the entire Russian probe is based! A really sad day for journalism, however an excellent day for our Country!

— Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) January 19, 2019

Front and center cheering the demise of the BuzzFeed report was the president’s oldest son, Donald Trump, Jr., who in a dozen approximately tweets late Friday buffooned the publication his father as soon as called a “stopping working stack of garbage.”

Republican National Committee Chairwoman Ronna McDaniel hit BuzzFeed and the rest of media hard too:

The whole facility of this story, which received wall-to-wall coverage, was based upon “proof” the reporters confessed they never even saw.

Who might’ve forecasted that the publishers of the bogus file would get this incorrect, too?https:// t.co/ enaIVvSNPu

— Ronna McDaniel (@GOPChairwoman) January 19, 2019

Trump, Jr., hammered BuzzFeed from every instructions– and also hit the rest of the media for going along with BuzzFeed’s phony news:

If the media does not invest– minute for minute– the exact same quantity of time on the death of the newest #FakeNews from @BuzzFeed (RIP) that they did hypothesizing about “IF IT holds true!” then they need to give up even pretending to be objective. What a disgrace. #RIPbuzzfeed

— Donald Trump Jr. (@DonaldJTrumpJr) January 19, 2019

Please continue. I’m actually curious about your bullshit commentary for the first time ever.

The number of stories like this are out there? The number of retractions and apologies will there be? https://t.co/nUDFGpw2Fx

— Donald Trump Jr. (@DonaldJTrumpJr) January 19, 2019

First Jim Acosta proves walls work. Now BuzzFeed (RIP) shows what a joke the protection of the witch hunt has actually been. TDS sure does produce some unusual symptoms. #RIPbuzzfeed #tds #TrumpDerangementSyndrome

— Donald Trump Jr. (@DonaldJTrumpJr) January 19, 2019

I ask is that CNN offers equal time to the retraction … (um obliteration you got struck with from Special Counsels Office) that you provided to the #fakenews part of the story you all so desperately desired to be real.

Appears reasonable, right? https://t.co/zmYNakwUv5

— Donald Trump Jr. (@DonaldJTrumpJr) January 19, 2019

And this right here is precisely what’s incorrect with CNN and the rest of the #FakeNews media.

If you’re hesitant about the precision of a story, how about NOT providing it non-stop, wall to wall protection on your network? You simply can’t assist yourselves!!! https://t.co/ouGZvIGvc0

— Donald Trump Jr. (@DonaldJTrumpJr) January 19, 2019

You ‘d be a lot more trustworthy if CNN’s two biggest bombshells about me had any benefit at all. Your network ran with them with glee however they were both total crap!

1) The date of my @wikileaks info receipt

2) Lanny Davis confessing he was your source & was wrong (still not fixed) https://t.co/plcdAG6nnO

He’s 100%right … because they are!!! https://t.co/PJ8onWQVh1

— Donald Trump Jr. (@DonaldJTrumpJr) January 19, 2019

You forgot CNN and Lanny Davis as a source saying I informed DJT re meeting and then Lanny himself states he got it wrong and they wouldn’t even fix. Still have not. Their own source states it was incorrect and they won’t repair. Provide me a break. https://t.co/Hx5qKxnBPF

Trump, Jr., illuminated the Democrats who latched onto the phony news report also:

Hey Adam, ends up it had plenty of Schiff! https://t.co/01saPi8aaW

But Trump, Jr., and President Trump were hardly alone:

Phrased in a different way, anticipate Buzzfeed’s reporting to demean the whole news media. https://t.co/oIgW3xsfd8

— David Martosko (@dmartosko) January 19, 2019

This is just the most egregious example of the widespread unfairness that has polluted this partisan witch-hunt from the start. The utter hatred for @realDonaldTrump has actually empowered a legion of back stabbers wielding flamboyant falsehoods to undermine @POTUS.

The story, which others in media and Democrats struck on to press the story that Trump could be impeached and removed from workplace, cites “2 federal police authorities involved in an examination of the matter” declaring that “President Donald Trump directed his longtime attorney Michael Cohen to lie to Congress about settlements to build a Trump Tower in Moscow.”

The BuzzFeed report states this is the first of any evidence to emerge that links Trump himself directly, as no evidence has actually surfaced in nearly two years of investigations that connects Trump to any wrongdoing:

The unique counsel’s office learnt more about Trump’s regulation for Cohen to lie to Congress through interviews with several witnesses from the Trump Company and internal company emails, text, and a cache of other files. Cohen then acknowledged those instructions throughout his interviews with that office.

This discovery is not the very first evidence to suggest the president might have attempted to obstruct the FBI and special counsel investigations into Russia’s interference in the 2016 election.

But, it turns out, this is totally fake news and incorrect. In response to the story, almost a full day later, Mueller spokesperson Peter Carr released a rare statement rebuking BuzzFeed report as incorrect.

” BuzzFeed’s description of specific statements to the Unique Counsel’s Office, and characterization of files and testimony acquired by this office, relating to Michael Cohen’s Congressional statement are not accurate,” Carr stated on behalf of the Unique Counsel’s Workplace.

Mueller’s office hardly ever issues any public statements, and almost never ever reacts publicly to press inquiries aside from toprovide court-ordered public releases of files. So the decision to do so, and the effect of that choice, is especially embarrassing for BuzzFeed. Incredulously, BuzzFeed is still standing by its story– in spite of the fact that Mueller obliterated it.

In reaction to the declaration tonight from the Special Counsel’s spokesperson: We stand by our reporting and the sources who notified it, and we urge the Unique Counsel to make clear what he’s disputing.

— Ben Smith (@BuzzFeedBen) January 19, 2019

However, in the wake of BuzzFeed’s effort to parse the declaration from the Unique Counsel’s office to in some way mean that its entire report is not being challenged, more reports have actually come out demonstrating that the Special Counsel’s declaration is meant to challenge every bit of the BuzzFeed story:

BuzzFeed’s hole gets deeper: “Mueller’s denial, according to people familiar with the matter, aims to make clear that * none of those declarations in the story * are accurate.” https://t.co/1ZjbLVWNp0

— Josh Kraushaar (@HotlineJosh) January 19, 2019

NYT: “A single person acquainted with Mr. Cohen’s testimony to the unique counsel’s prosecutors stated that Mr. Cohen did not state that the president had pushed him to lie to Congress.” https://t.co/dioxTf437V
