Sen. Sherrod Brown (D-OH) kicked off his “Dignity of Work” trip amid 2020 speculation in Brunswick, Ohio Wednesday night, which focused on employee rights and criticism of Donald Trump’s “counterfeit populism.”

“[Trump] utilizes his fake populism to sidetrack from the truth that he has used the White Home to enhance billionaires like himself,” Brown informed his 300 advocates in attendance. “Genuine populism is not racist. It’s never anti-Semitic.”

Brown, who is thinking about a run for president in 2020, included that real populists “don’t rip infants from their families at the border.”

The longtime Ohio senator also touched on worker rights, in which he said worker “earnings are flat.”

” The dignity of work indicates effort ought to settle for everyone, no matter who you are or what kind of work you do,” Brown specified. “Business revenues have soared. Executive compensation has exploded. Workers are producing more than ever in the past, but their incomes are flat. Washington doesn’t even comprehend what cumulative bargaining is all about.”

After the trip launch in his house town, Brown will travel to Iowa to welcome fans and participate in a number of conversations. Brown will also check out Nevada, New Hampshire, and South Carolina prior to making an official statement regarding a run for the greatest office in the nation.

RNC Spokesperson Mandi Merritt said:

As Sherrod Brown takes his bogus pro-workers’ agenda to the early main states, he runs the risk of deserting his own Ohio constituents. Ohio didn’t sign up for a part-time Senator, and by partaking in the Democrats’ turbocharged race to the left, Brown is bound to leave Ohio voters in the dust. Brown’s ‘ Self-respect of Work’ tour has absolutely nothing to do with fighting for hard-working families, and whatever to do with Brown’s own political aspirations.

In 2017, Brown– who is popular in Ohio, a key state won by Trump– voted versus tax cuts that would help Ohio employees. He has actually also swiped millions from lobbyists, unique interests, and Wall Street, while declaring to eliminate against them.
