Sunday on ABC’s “Today,” House Intelligence Committee chairman Rep. Adam Schiff (D-CA) said Democrats “might” use up impeachment proceedings against President Donald Trump.

Schiff stated, “I think Elizabeth Warren makes an essential point and that is the level of proof in the Mueller report is severe and damning and under typical circumstance would by think without question within the realm of impeachable offenses.”

He continued, “We remain in an environment today where the GOP management individuals like Kevin McCarthy are willing to carry the president’s water no matter how corrupt or unethical the president’s conduct may be. In those sort of situations, when Mitch McConnell will not withstand the president either, that implies impeachment will be unsuccessful.”

He added, “Now it might be we carry out impeachment nonetheless. I think what we’ll have to decide as a caucus, what’s the finest thing for the nation Is this the best thing for the country, use up an impeachment proceeding? To do otherwise sends out a message that this conduct is in some way suitable with workplace? Or is it in the finest interest of the nation to not take up impeachment that we understand will not succeed in the Senate since the Republican leadership will not do its task? That’s a really difficult concern.”
