Friday on CNN’s “The Situation Space,” New York Times columnist Thomas Friedman explained President Donald Trump as “demented.”

Friedman said, “It’s actually unfortunate. This is a celebration that has actually merely set for a demented man. They have been setting for anybody who would energize their base, going back to Sarah Palin and the Tea Party, and now it’s Trump.”

He added, “We’re actually risking our luck here. For how long can this go on? We have a disturbed guy as president. That’s extremely clear. We have a celebration that is not all set to stand up to it. What concerns me is now we’re threatening our organizations. Look, what he did describing the judges as Bush judges and Obama judges. Thank God John Roberts said, they aren’t Obama judges and Bush judges. They’re just judges. Look what he has been doing with the military. Saying individuals who are out of work now, government employees, they are primarily just Democrats.”

” These are our organizations,” Friedman continued. “What makes us distinct as a country is that we have a judiciary, we have a non-partisan military, we have a real state, not some nefarious deep state. The world covets those organizations. Why do you believe those individuals are lining up to get into our country? They want to be in a place that has those type of organizations. That’s precisely what this president is assaulting. That’s a threat. The most significant crisis we have right now remains in the Oval Workplace. We have a president who does not appreciate the organizations that make our nation special.”
