NAACP President Derrick Johnson said over the weekend that President Donald Trump should resign in response to the Ku Klux Klan( KKK)/ blackface controversy engulfing Virginia Guv Ralph Northam (D).

” Quite frankly, I wish the president would resign,” Johnson stated on MSNBC when asked if there is anything Trump might state to make the circumstance much better. “Here’s a person who took kids from their parents at the border. Here’s an individual who took food off the table over a border wall we don’t need. Here’s an individual who set a tone of intolerance.”

When a photo of a person in blackface and another in a KKK hood on Northam’s medical school yearbook page emerged on Friday, Northam first excused being one of the individuals in the image. However on Saturday, Northam claimed that he in fact was not in the image.

” I think now and then that I am not either of individuals in this picture,” Northam said in a strange news conference in which he confessed to putting on some black shoe polish on his face to look like Michael Jackson for a dance contest throughout the same time duration. “This was not me in that image. That was not Ralph Northam.”

Johnson, the NAACP president who has contacted Northam to resign on various events, said that if Trump wants to “lean in” on racial issues, he must “lean in with a set of policy priorities” that “shows the interest of all Americans.”

He also said he was not amazed that the nation was dealing with another racial debate, citing the “tone of intolerance developed by this nation both in regards to words and policy” during the Trump administration.

” Unfortunately we have bigotry germinating from the White Home,” Johnson firmly insisted.
