On Monday’s broadcast of MSNBC’s “All In,” 2020 governmental prospect previous HUD Secretary and former San Antonio Mayor Julián Castro (D) reacted to the Trump administration’s new immigration rules by mentioning that President Trump “desires a whiter, wealthier country.”

Castro stated, “What it appears like is that this administration is not simply versus undocumented immigrants, it’s also against legal immigrants. And on top of that, it seems to just desire immigrants that look a certain method. I believe what they’re looking for are, it appears like, well-to-do immigrants from some European countries. … Before 1924, individuals could pertain to this nation– we didn’t have the exact same system of migration laws that we have now, and a great deal of those folks … came here with nothing, and yet, and I believe this is an extremely crucial point, Ali, a lot of those folks helped build the excellent country that we have today.”

He included, “I believe the point that needs to be asked is, why is Donald Trump so thinking about cutting off this generation of immigrants? And it returns to what he’s shown from the start of his political profession, from birtherism, to the method he began his project, to those remarks about the Mexican-American judge, to his comments about Ilhan Omar and her colleagues. He wants a whiter, wealthier nation. That’s what he has an interest in.”
