Rep. Tom McClintock (R-CA) informed hosts Rebecca Mansour and Joel Pollak throughout an interview on Sirius XM’sBreitbart News Tonighton Thursday that President Donald Trump must use presidential emergency powers to “build the wall,” describing Speaker of your home Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) as “not even pretending to be negotiating in good faith.”
Pollak invited McClintock’s talk about the “state of play” on Capitol Hill relating to ongoing political strife connected to surround security.
Democrats oppose procedures to obstruct illegal immigration, said McClintock.
” It’s really clear to me the Democrats have never ever been serious about border security,” McClintock stated. “They state they are, however you can’t indicate a single border security step that they have really supported just recently. You can’t state that you are opposed to illegal migration while you are advocating supplying a big series of services for unlawful immigrants, ranging from healthcare and legal counseling to education and real estate, all at taxpayer cost.”
McClintock continued, “You can’t state you wish to discourage unlawful immigration while you’re busy rewarding those who unlawfully immigrate. So I believe we’re going to see the very same type of obstructionism over these next three weeks that we saw during the shutdown, and at the end of that time, my strong advice to the president is to take the legal authority that he needs to reprogram unobligated military construction funds and put them to use protecting our borders. I can’t think about anything more vital to national defense than the defense of our southern border.”
Mansour asked, “You think that he should, in fact, use his authority to state this a nationwide emergency situation? Is that what you’re saying?”
” Yes,” responded McClintock. “In truth, there are currently 31 stated nationwide emergencies under the arrangements of that act. So this would be number32 It’s barely unprecedented, and unlike a lot of the other stated emergency situations, this one straight impacts the stability of our own borders, not the borders of Iraq or some other country, however our own country.”
Mansour asked if presidential power would be alarmingly broadened via precedent in the occasion Trump used executive presidential emergency situation powers towards constructing a southern border wall.
McClintock answered, “Let me ask you this question: when have leftists ever relied on precedent to expand their power? They make it up as they go along. Barack Obama wrote DACA plainly out of thin air with no statutory authority. This is an authority that the president has actually had considering that 1976, approved to him by the Congress to reprogram already-appropriated military construction funds if he believes there is a higher nationwide security interest.”
McClintock went on. “I don’t fret about activists saying this is some precedent for the future. The reality is they would declare any pretext as pretext for expanding their power. That’s what they do. It’s in their nature.”
McClintock added, “The other thing you’re hearing all the time is, ‘Oh, well, if he went this route, they ‘d just obstruct it in the courts.’ Well, anything he attempts to do to protect our borders, they’re going to try to obstruct in the courts. The great news on that front is we have a Supreme Court that waits the law, and the law is extremely clear on this topic.”
McClintock remarked, “[Donald Trump] is also speaking about a law that Congress passed that is on the books that gives him the authority as commander-in-chief to reprogram non-obligated military construction funds for the defense of our nation.”
The status quo of illegal immigration quantities to a genuine nationwide security emergency situation, figured out McClintock.
” Take a look at what’s going on our southern border today,” encouraged McClintock. “We’ve got between 16 and 29 million individuals who are currently living unlawfully in the United States. It’s costing American taxpayers well over $100,000,000 a year to support this population. We have 60,000 more unlawfully crossing our border monthly. We now have three caravans. One is numbering over 12,000 people who are heading towards our border with the stated and avowed intent of breaking the integrity of our borders.”
McClintock reviewed Americans preyed on by unlawful aliens.
” Go back to 2017, which is the in 2015 we have full figures for. Unlawful aliens murdered 1,800 Americans,” McClintock stated. “They strongly attacked 48,000 more. Not one of those criminal offenses must have taken place because not one of those bad guys should be in our country to start with. Now, if that is not a nationwide security crisis, I don’t know what is, and that’s prior to we start discussing any of the sex trafficking or drug trafficking going on throughout our borders.”
Mansour inquired about California’s “Motor Citizen” registration program, a state-run operation that immediately registers chauffeur’s licensees on citizen rolls to “make it simpler for more individuals to vote.”
McClintock responded, “Comprehend what that system is. California now offers motorist’s licenses to unlawful immigrants. When you get your motorist’s license in California, you’re automatically signed up to vote. They even altered the rules so that you can not prosecute someone who has actually voted unlawfully unless you can prove that they knew that it was prohibited to vote.”
McClintock included, “I’m persuaded that this is rather purposeful, and nobody knows the number of illegal immigrants in fact voted in this election, but it’s a lot more, I believe, than [what] they’re declaring.”
McClintock went on, “Don’t forget that every unlawful vote that is cast counteracts the legal vote of an American resident, and the Democrats don’t care. … These claims that they care about border security are simply fake. Far back, they stopped calling prohibited immigration what it is– illegal.”
McClintock stated, “You can hear a great deal of them promoting abolishing the agencies that defend our border, like ICE. They’ve enacted sanctuary laws in states like California that secure hazardous criminal aliens from deportation, and they have actually opposed everything from necessary work confirmation to hold companies responsible for employing illegals to their opposition to visa trafficking of foreign nationals entering our nation.”
The “extreme left” opposes American sovereignty, assessed McClintock.
” I am persuaded that the radical left, as part of their agenda, is to just take down our borders,” McClintock figured out. “When we stop imposing our immigration laws, our borders end up being worthless, and we cease to be a country. We just become this vast global territory between Canada and Mexico, both of which, by the way, have immigration laws and borders that they actually implement.”
Mansour asked if Pelosi is negotiating with Trump and Republicans “in excellent faith.”
” She’s not even pretending to be working out in good faith,” reacted McClintock. “Remember, throughout the shutdown, the president made one offer after another. He lowered his total financing request. He agreed to revamp the wall to meet some of the objections that they were making. He accepted nearly $1,000,000 of humanitarian aid on top of all of this, and the Democrats wouldn’t even consider his concessions. They would not provide him a proposal of their own.”
McClintock continued, “When he asked Nancy Pelosi, ‘If I open up the federal government tomorrow, can we then work out for border walls?’ and, as I recall, sheofferedone dollar for the security of our southern border.”
McClintock remembered, “He invited the Democratic freshmen to come to the White House to take a seat and talk about dealing with the issue, and they wouldn’t even go to the White House to speak with him. Now, they had lots of time to go off to Puerto Rico and party with a hundred lobbyists throughout the shutdown, but they couldn’t take an hour out of their otherwise busy schedules to go to the White Home at the president’s invitation and request to fix this impasse. That informs you where they are.”
Pollak inquired about possible partisan compromises to deal with continuous political gridlock.
” I can’t forecast the future, however I’ll inform you, I would be extremely, very shocked,” speculated McClintock.
McClintock recommended Trump to use a demand in pushing Democrats to negotiate on border wall funding and broader border security concerns.
” I think what the president needs to do is make it really clear: ‘Provide me 3 weeks. If you’re serious about it, we will sit down and work out a compromise. You desire DACA. We desire our border secured. As soon as our borders are secured, we’ll agree to legalize the DACA recipients. However if we can’t come to an arrangement in three weeks, I’m going to construct the wall under the authority I already have. There will be no compromises. I’ll do it precisely the method it needs to be done. And if you want to talk about DACA or any other concessions, you’re the ones now that are going to have to make compromises.’ I think that puts him in an extremely strong position. However I am not the least bit positive that the Democrats are going to budge on this.”
McClintock concluded, “I believe, at this point, his only responsible course is to use his authority and develop the wall.”
