After President Donald Trump settled on Friday to open the government for three weeks, Rep. Karen Bass (D-CA), the chair of the Congressional Black Caucus (CBC), stated House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) should simply offer the State of the Union address “since she’s obviously the one running the nation.”

. @SpeakerPelosi ought to provide the State of the Union because she’s clearly the one running the country.

Pelosi cancelled Tuesday’s State of the Union address and stated on Friday, after Trump chose to open the government on Democrats’ terms, that she and Trump still have to “talk about an equally acceptable date.”

” The State of the Union is not planned now,” Pelosi stated when asked if there will be a State of the Union address on Tuesday. “What I stated to the president is when the federal government is open we will talk about an equally acceptable date, and I’ll look forward to doing that and welcoming the president to your home of Representatives for the State of the Union when we settle on that.”

SOTU on Tuesday? Pelosi does not appear to believe so:

Pelosi showed that the State of the Union address will take place just after the government is permanently open. Trump, however, alerted that he wants to close down the federal government once again on February 15 if he does not get a “fair offer from Congress.”

” If we do not get a fair offer from Congress, the government either shuts down on February 15th again or I will utilize the powers paid for to me under the laws and the Constitution of the United States to resolve this emergency,” Trump said on Friday.
