Tuesday on MSNBC’s “The Rachel Maddow Show,” Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) accused both President Donald Trump and U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement of “methodically broken human rights.”

Ocasio-Cortez stated, “I can not tell you the amount of dysfunction that this president is advancing. We now have more than 100 brand-new members of the freshman class. I can not get back at get laptop computers to my caseworkers in the Bronx and Queens to process the requirements of constituents. We can not get casework began because the president decided to hold the paychecks of daily Americans captive so that he can fulfill a campaign, I can’t call it a campaign pledge, a dream. Not just that in the real address there was falsehood after fraud and we have to make certain we get the realities directly. Everyday immigrants commit crimes at a far lower rate than native-born Americans. And not just that however the ladies and kids on the border looking for sanctuary and chance in the United States of America with absolutely nothing but the shirt on their backs are acting more American than anyone who seeks to keep them out ever will be.”

She added, “It’s not surprising since even before he was chosen president of the United States he has a tested performance history of discrimination against anybody that’s none white in the United States. He had actually been taken legal action against by the Nixon administration back then for not leasing to black Americans. He has actually had controversy after debate, so this is really constant. It’s not simply the continued lies throughout his administration, however frankly, it belongs to an extremely constant pattern of his entire life.”

After saying Trump has “racist and violent rhetoric,” Ocasio-Cortez said, “The something the president has actually not discussed is the fact he has actually methodically participated in the violation of human rights on our border. He has separated children from their families. He discussed what occurred the day after Christmas, on the day of Christmas, a child died in ICE custody. The president should not be asking for more money to a company that has methodically violated human rights. The president must be truly protecting why we are funding such an agency when right now what we are seeing is death. Right now what we are seeing is the violation of human rights. These kids and households are being kept in basically freezing boxes that no individual must be maintained in for any quantity of time not to mention the amount of time they are being kept.”
