Tuesday on MSNBC’s “The Rachel Maddow Program,” Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) implicated both President Donald Trump and U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement of “systematically breached human rights.”

Ocasio-Cortez said, “I can not tell you the amount of dysfunction that this president is advancing. We now have over 100 brand-new members of the freshman class. I can not get back at get laptops to my caseworkers in the Bronx and Queens to process the needs of constituents. We can not get casework began due to the fact that the president decided to hold the incomes of everyday Americans captive so that he can fulfill a campaign, I can’t call it a campaign guarantee, a fantasy. Not just that in the real address there was fraud after fraud and we need to ensure we get the facts directly. Everyday immigrants dedicate criminal activities at a far lower rate than native-born Americans. And not only that however the women and kids on the border looking for refuge and opportunity in the United States of America with nothing but the shirt on their backs are acting more American than anyone who seeks to keep them out ever will be.”

She added, “It’s not surprising because even prior to he was chosen president of the United States he has a tested track record of discrimination versus anybody that’s none white in the United States. He had actually been taken legal action against by the Nixon administration back in the day for not renting to black Americans. He has actually had controversy after debate, so this is extremely constant. It’s not simply the continued lies throughout his administration, but frankly, it’s part of a very consistent pattern of his whole life.”

After stating Trump has “racist and violent rhetoric,” Ocasio-Cortez said, “The one thing the president has actually not spoken about is the truth he has systematically participated in the violation of human rights on our border. He has actually separated children from their families. He discussed what took place the day after Christmas, on the day of Christmas, a kid died in ICE custody. The president needs to not be asking for more loan to an agency that has actually systematically breached human rights. The president must be actually defending why we are moneying such an agency when right now what we are seeing is death. Today what we are seeing is the offense of human rights. These children and households are being kept in basically freezing boxes that no person should be preserved in for any quantity of time let alone the amount of time they are being kept.”
